Dentist marks 7th trip to help poverty-stricken natives
For Dr. Jim Elias, it’s all about making a difference. That’s why every year, the long-time Oxyfresh dentist travels halfway around the world to offer free dental care to African natives who need it so badly. And he’s inspired every time.

Left: Dr. Elias uses Super Relief Gel on patients in Zambia, Africa.
Right: Dr. Elias performs oral procedures on patients in Zambia.
“These people live in grass huts with no running water and 87 percent of them are HIV positive,” Dr. Elias says. “Yet God has given them such a beautiful and peaceful heart. They are kind, appreciative, patient, intelligent and happy.”
On his most recent trip last summer, he was part of the Kafulafuta Mission to Zambia, one of the world’s poorest countries. He was accompanied by three medical students and five dental students.
“This year was incredible. We were able to help so many people and in turn were blessed ourselves. Over 600 people were treated with several thousands of teeth and roots extracted.” As he has in year’s past, Super Relief Dental Gel donated by Oxyfresh was part of every procedure.
“Nothing works as well to promote healing,” said Dr. Elias, of Independence, Missouri.
“The mouth is the highway to health and every patient was given a Dental Kit and instructions,” he said. “The native’s education on oral health took a quantum leap! Thanks so much, Oxyfresh, for being part of another successful mission.”
