The network marketing company Oxyfresh is donating more than $15,000 in toothpaste as part of the annual TODAY Show Toy Drive. The Toy Drive is a national effort to collect toys, games, books, clothing and toiletries for children and families facing economic hardships.

Known for the success of its oral hygiene products, Oxyfresh will contribute 1,320 tubes of toothpaste to those in need. For many, the gift is absolutely necessary. Tooth decay is the most common chronic disease among school-aged children. It affects five times as many children as asthma.

"Giving back is always important, but in economic times like these it's even more important," Oxyfresh CEO Richard Brooke said. "That's especially true when you're talking about oral health, which is something that many people already neglect."

Oxyfresh is coordinating its efforts with other members of the Direct Selling Association. In recognition of the DSA's continuing support, the DSA was once again been invited to kick off the drive live on the TODAY Show on Monday, Nov. 22.

Richard Brooke, the CEO of Oxyfresh, is an elected member of the DSA. He has been the CEO of Oxyfresh since 1986 and a member of the network marketing industry since 1977.

"We're helping families in New York, in California, in Washington, in Idaho," said Brooke. "I'm glad that our company is part of something that helps people around the country. It's a natural extension of what we do every day."

"Direct sellers help others achieve their goals through the products and opportunities they offer," said Amy Robinson, DSA Vice President of Communications and Media Relations. "But their involvement in charitable and philanthropic activities reinforces the positive impact direct selling has on millions of lives each year."

Forty-one direct selling companies donated a total of more than $16.5 million in products and cash to the Toy Drive. In its seven years of participation, DSA member companies have donated more than $70 million in products, services and cash to the Toy Drive.
